The annual Bosporos dinner took place this year in the Waterman's Hall in London, on the 10th December, with Steve Royle
as the guest of honour. Held after one of the best Trial Eights races in many a year, seventy Old Blues and Isis gathered
together for a fine meal in equally fine company. Sam McLennan, this year's Oxford President and three-seat of the historic 2003
winning crew, talked those present through a video of that epic contest, giving an insider's view on the closest Boat Race in
history.
Guest of honour however was Steve Royle, Oxford Director of Rowing and dedicated servant to the OUBC for a quarter
of a century. Since his first involvement back in 1978, Steve has presided over 16 Boat Race victories and seen 24
Olympians pass through the club under his watchful eye. His long standing love of and dedication to the cause was heartily
celebrated by those present. It was also noted that in his twenty-fifth year with the club, Steve is currently taking charge
of the project to build a new boat house for the OUBC on the banks of the river Thames in Wallingford. All present look
forward to celebrating Steve's fifty years' of service to the club in a further quarter of a century's time.
